SARAJEVO, November 19 (FENA) - Local housing warming programs, launched in Banja Luka, Živinice, Sarajevo, Tešanj and Zenica, were presented at the conference "Local Initiatives and Housing Reconstruction Programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina", which was organized as part of the activities of the project "Decarbonization of the energy sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina".
The project on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation is being implemented by GIZ in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH from 2020 to 2023.
So far, within the project, houses have been warmed in the above-mentioned cities in BiH, but local and entity authorities have been supported in achieving the same housing conditions in other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"I think we have a big task, with the support of GIZ and these activities we manage to spread ideas about how we imagine establishing a system when it comes to energy efficiency. As the competent ministry, we have recognized the Environmental Protection Fund as a relevant organization that will be the holder of these activities.
The sooner we have an understanding of local communities the better results we will get. The goal is to establish a system and programs that will provide access to everyone, in order to use the funds at our disposal," said Aida Jelinić, head of the department for energy efficiency in the FBiH Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry.
According to the preliminary analysis of the project, BiH has a huge potential of over 300 million KM per year for investments in energy efficiency. In this regard, the importance of the private sector in the building renovation program was emphasized, as well as the ongoing bank investments.
