SARAJEVO, May 29 (FENA) - Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johann Sattler, said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) money is in the Central Bank, waiting to be distributed to help and support the population and business entities.
“However, that cannot happen until the politicians agree, and that agreement obviously does not exist yet. As far as I understand, and I have talked to experienced and professional lawyers and jurists, all that is needed is a new decision of the Council of Ministers. That can be done quickly,” he emphasized to the journalists in Sarajevo today.
It is said in a joint statement of the EU Delegation to BiH and the United States Embassy in BiH that on 23 April the BiH Council of Ministers (CoM) issued a decision authorizing a promissory note that unlocked the transfer of the 330-Million-Euro from the IMF to BiH. This same decision, however required a second special decision to allocate the funds in accordance with the Letter of Intent sent from BiH to the IMF. The CoM has yet to issue this second decision and the funds sit idle in the Central Bank.
