MOSTAR, September 24 (FENA) – The Scout Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is continuing reforestation activities in fire-affected areas as part of the Boranka campaign in BiH, with the first autumn action scheduled for September 26 at the Risovac site in Blidinje Nature Park.
The opening and start of the action are scheduled for 11.00 at the Sovićka vrata site, and the action is being organized in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Environmental Protection of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
Volunteers from Jablanica and surrounding towns, scouts, students, representatives of institutions, company employees and citizens will take part in the action.
The participation of HNC Minister of Trade, Tourism and Environmental Protection Emil Balavac and ministry employees is expected, along with employees of BH Telecom, members of the Scout Association of the City of Mostar, the “Jablan” Scout Unit from Jablanica and the “Neretva” Scout Unit from Konjic, as well as other citizens and volunteers.
At the Risovac site, volunteers will plant new seedlings, thereby contributing to the restoration of forest areas affected by wildfires.
The Scout Association of FBiH said that each new action represents a continuation of joint activities aimed at restoring fire-affected areas, as well as efforts to involve as many citizens as possible in their restoration.
So far, Boranka in BiH has organized seven reforestation actions, involving more than 900 volunteers, while more than 12,000 seedlings have been planted at fire-affected sites across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The campaign has also included eight educational workshops, through which more than 500 students learned about forests, wildfires and nature protection.
Scouts are the initiators of the Boranka campaign, through which they seek to involve citizens in the restoration of fire-affected areas and nature protection through volunteer work.
Following the action at Risovac, new activities are planned. Reforestation will be organized on October 3 in Mostar, in the Bjelišine area, at a site above the Orthodox Cemetery, followed by actions on October 17 and 24 in the Blidinje area in Posušje, while an action at Tajan near Zavidovići is planned for November 7.
Boranka is calling on citizens, organizations and companies to join the activities as volunteers, partners or sponsors, with the message: “Be a friend to the forest. Together, we plant the future.”
