Sarajevo's Tunnel of Hope: 32 years of resistance and remembrance

SARAJEVO, July 30 (FENA) – This year marks the 32nd anniversary of the digging and commissioning of the Sarajevo Tunnel of Hope, which was built and put into use in wartime 1993 for the residents of besieged Sarajevo. It was the only link between the besieged capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the rest of the world until the siege ended in 1996, and today it preserves the memories of the citizens of Sarajevo, its builders, fighters, and those who gave their lives defending the city.
