Court responses to gender-based violence: Challenges in sentencing and victim protection

BANJA LUKA, March 26 (FENA) – An analysis of data collected through active monitoring of 154 criminal proceedings and 110 verdicts from targeted courts in 2022 and 2023 in the entity of Republika Srpska and the Brčko District, related to the prosecution of gender-based violence cases, highlights examples of good practices but also challenges in ensuring the application of laws and binding international standards in cases where women and children are victims.
