TUZLA, May 7 (FENA) - Participants of the 'Academy of Excellence – East West Bridge in BiH' completed a three-day advanced seminar in Tuzla and adopted a series of conclusions and recommendations for civil society and public administration.
The participants of the seminar were 20 young activists who come from different cities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. They had the opportunity to socialize and talk with eminent lecturers and learn from experts in the fields of local activism, democracy, leadership, geopolitics, education, economics, and anti-corruption, and discuss current topics and events in BiH and the region.
After a substantial three-day agenda, they adopted a series of common conclusions and recommendations that they will send to civil society and public administration at different levels. These recommendations can serve as a good basis for passing laws and solutions for better functioning of public administration and building strong state institutions for the benefit of all citizens in BiH, the organizers said.
The principles of equality and equity should be implemented towards all citizens in the entire territory of BiH, including the Brčko District, ensure the conduct of fair and honest democratic elections in BiH, using digital technologies, ensure equal opportunities for the political participation of women and demand constitutional changes in accordance with international obligations, which would enable better functionality of the state and respect for human rights.
Among the common conclusions and recommendations is the harmonization of local regulations to meet the minimum standards that the local community needs to achieve in support of young people according to the Youth Law of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the RS Law on Youth Organization and the Law on Youth Organization of Brčko District.
The US Ambassador to BiH, Michael Murphy, addressed the participants of the seminar in a video message.
At the end of the advanced seminar, all participants were presented with Certificates of Participation in the advanced seminar "Academy of Excellence – East West Bridge in BiH'' and thanks for their active contribution to the development of critical thinking and motivation of young people towards activism in their local communities and creating a better environment in BiH society.
