SARAJEVO, June 25 (FENA) - The fourth BiH Pride March under the slogan 'Proudly together' was held yesterday in Sarajevo. Participants gathered at the area near the History Museum, from where they walked through the city streets to the National Theater, where social gatherings and an appropriate program were held.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina Pride March was born out of the need of the LGBTIQ+ community to be more visible in society, and to draw more attention to the problems and needs they face through this act of activism.

Dina Bajraktarević, a member of the Organizing Committee of the BH Pride March, stated that with the slogan "Proudly together" they want to highlight the alliance that comes within the LGBTIQ community itself, as well as the wider public. Bajraktarević pointed out that it is noticeable that support is present, but it is often "kept between four walls".

"The significance of this year's BiH Pride March is reflected in the fact that we want this support to be public and uncompromising. To be loud. To show that our citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are really with the LGBTIQ community and that they support them," said Bajraktarević.

She emphasized that the BH Pride March is important for the human rights of LGBTIQ people. It is also a platform for alliance and joining.

"We stand by all those whose rights are denied,” she said.

Member of the Organizing Committee of the BiH Pride March Mirza Halilčević pointed out that LGBTIQ people live 365 days a year and that support must be continuous and that there are many ways in which support can be provided.

Those who are most important to members of the LGBTIQ community, namely their parents, also participated in the march yesterday.

One of the mothers who fully supports her daughter pointed out that the family is important, that it is the point where everything starts.

She also stressed that the acceptance process is ongoing and it does not happen overnight. She also pointed out that dialogue and conversation are needed.
