SARAJEVO, June 1 (FENA) - A member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović received the Working Group for the Western Balkans Region (COWEB) within the Council of the European Union, and the meeting was an opportunity to exchange opinions and views on the situation and opportunities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but in general also in the European Union and Europe as a whole.

The working group for the Western Balkans region is responsible for the European Union's relations with our region and deals with general political and economic development and the Stabilization and Association Process (SAP) with the EU.

It is made up of representatives of all 27 EU member states, and today's working group, at a meeting with BiH Presidency member Bećirović, was chaired by Antoni Adamowicz from the European External Action Service (EEAS).

In his introductory presentation, Bećirović informed the members of the delegation about the very clear strategic foreign policy goals of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely full membership in the EU and NATO and good regional cooperation. All these strategic goals were adopted unanimously in the state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, noted Bećirović.

He thanked the European Union for granting Bosnia and Herzegovina the full status of a candidate country for EU membership since December last year and pointed out that the granting of this status is a very important fact for the citizens and peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He informed the interlocutors that he proposed and referred to the procedure several questions that directly concern the EU integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and one of those questions is the proposal that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopt an action plan for fulfilling 14 priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission, as well as a document on the development of the state program for the integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the European Union because he believes that the members of the BiH Presidency have a symbolic power because they are directly elected by the citizens throughout the country.

Bećirović mentioned to the delegation of all 27 EU member states that they are coming to this meeting only one day after a historic day for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for Europe and the world, because the legal successor of the ICTY in The Hague, the IRMCT, ended the last case after 30 years of activity by delivering the judgment based on the facts in the case 'Prosecutor vs. Stanišić and Simatović'.

The interlocutors agreed that the decisions made by the RSNA on April 26 of this year are neither democratic nor in the European spirit.

The members of the delegation were particularly interested in Bećirović's views on the secessionist statements of the president of the RS entity, as well as on changes to laws in the domain of criminal law, the withdrawing of the judges of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina from among the Serb people, and the law on non-governmental organizations in that entity.
