SARAJEVO, May 22 (FENA) - The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez said after today's reception of the British Minister of Defense James Heappey in Sarajevo that the United Kingdom is one of the key foreign policy factors and friends of BiH.
Helez said that the visit was agreed at the end of March at the Schuman Forum in Brussels, and that the British minister fulfilled his promise.
- Today we had important discussions about important issues for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its Euro-Atlantic integration. I thanked the minister for the overall assistance that the United Kingdom provided to the Armed Forces of BiH over the past years, and thanks to their help, the Armed Forces of BiH are today respectable and many units within the Armed Forces of BiH are fully in line with the standards of the NATO alliance - Helez said.
The British Minister of Defense for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, James Heappey, emphasized that the United Kingdom is a proud and long-term partner of BiH and recognizes the importance of a strong and united BiH, not only for BiH but also for the Western Balkans.
- And at a time when values such as freedom, territorial integrity and sovereignty are under attack as they are in Ukraine, it is very important that the forces that believe in these values stand and support them as strongly as possible. We are looking forward to cooperation with you, cooperation of our armed forces, as well as future cooperation - said Minister Heappey.
The most important thing is that in the continuation of the cooperation between the two ministries, Minister Helez will visit Great Britain and London based on the invitation.
