SARAJEVO, May 19 (FENA) - Writer, professor and academician Dževad Karahasan passed away at the age of 70.
Dževad Karahasan is from Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the most important European authors. His books have been translated into more than fifteen languages, and he has won several awards for his literary work.
He wrote plays, novels, short stories, essays, history and criticism of the theater and participated as a theater director. His plays are performed in theaters around the world.
He was born in Duvno (today's Tomislavgrad) in 1953. He completed elementary and high school education in his hometown. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, studying comparative literature and theater studies, and received his doctorate from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb.
