SARAJEVO, May 18 (FENA) - The European Union programs available to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the new EU financial cycle 2021 - 2027 were presented today at a conference in Sarajevo.

The conference on the topic "BiH in EU Programs: Opportunities and challenges for the period 2021-2027", organized by the Directorate for European Integration, was an opportunity to discuss this topic from the point of view of national contact points of individual programs and successful applicants from of the previous fiscal cycle.

Head of Department in the Sector for EU Accession Programs in the Directorate for European Integration, Angelina Pudar, said that in this financial cycle, BiH has participated in four programs so far - the program for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe, then the program in the field of culture and audio-visual arts Creative Europe, the Civil Protection Mechanism program, which BiH joined for the first time this year, and the Erasmus+ program for education, training and youth.

She noted that agreements for participation in two more programs are being prepared and should be signed soon - the single market program, its component for small and medium-sized enterprises, competitiveness and sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises, and the FISCALIS program in the field of tax policy.

"In addition, BiH and its institutions are considering participation in six more programs. We expect that we will have significant participation in these programs," said Pudar.

She pointed out that funds can be obtained for joint projects with partners in European countries.

Gianluca Vannini from the EU Delegation in BiH said that it is extremely important for BiH to participate in EU programs.

He noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina participated before, in the previous cycle, and it is important that it also participates in this new one, which refers to the period 2021-2027.

"Our new program includes activities in several areas. These are culture, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, environmental protection, civil protection and other activities. Some of our most famous programs are, above all, Erasmus+, Horizon, Creative Europe...," said Vannini.

With the help of these projects, important funds can be obtained, and in this context it is important that Bosnia and Herzegovina received the status of a candidate, adding that these are grant funds.

He stated that participation in EU programs represents an opportunity for BiH to get involved in activities that take place at the EU level, which are open to EU members and some countries that are not yet members.
