MOSTAR, May 2 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković emphasized, during his stay on Tuesday at the International Business Fair in Mostar, the economic importance of any other cooperation in the Balkans.
- Everyone emphasized how important political security and stability is for the development of any economy, and today I am happy listening to such messages from all potential partners from all countries. We have heard how important trade is, especially within the relationship between Croatia-BiH and the Republic of Serbia. Once again, I emphasize the need to put emphasis on these topics, and not topics that we have been struggling with for many years and on which, it seems to me, we will not have any agreement for a long time - stressed Konaković.
He is happy, he says, that today they can show "the new face of Bosnian politics, the face of compromise, projects, salary increases, care for people and workers, and not those topics that tire people who are fleeing Bosnia and Herzegovina".
- I don't know why Milorad Dodik is not here today, it would be good if he was here. We are here to negotiate. The Republika Srpska is an entity in BiH and is just as important to us as the Federation. We don't allow someone of our own or someone else to block things in the RS and I'm sorry that he's not here to talk about it specifically - he emphasized.
Konaković also said that they have serious demands regarding the electoral legislation, which, he notes, they already articulated in Neum.
- We are interested in the abolition of ethnic prefixes, the possibility of Serbs from the Federation, Croats and Bosniaks from the RS being elected to the Presidency, the abolition of ethnic prefixes when it comes to the House of Peoples of the country. Electoral legislation is a topic that we all worry about and we hope that we will find a solution on serious grounds - he asserted.
He believes that it will be easier to succeed if they first deal with economic issues and make life easier for citizens. If citizens see the effects of the compromise, Konaković emphasizes, it will be easier to reach an agreement.
Commenting on Milorad Dodik's statement that the Council of Ministers will not function unless "Eastern interconnection" is on the agenda, Konaković said that there will be "Eastern" but also "Southern interconnection", and the HJPC Act and the Foreign Affairs Act .
- We are not stipulating anything, but why should the Serbian representatives not support these documents. If it is blackmail on their part, then it is not an agreement - Minister Konaković concluded.
