SARAJEVO, April 27 (FENA) - The situation at the border crossings with the Republic of Croatia, and the issue of the limited stay of professional drivers in the territory of the European Union, were the main topics of the session of the Board of the Association of International Road Cargo Carriers of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FTC BiH).

The members of the Board, as concluded, are unanimous in their requests to determine the working hours of the phytosanitary authorities at the Gradiška/Stara Gradiška border crossing from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays, in the upcoming fruit and vegetable export season.

They also demand the establishment of a special lane for vehicles transporting perishable goods and dangerous substances in Gradiška, in the street leading to the Gradiška/Stara Gradiška border crossing.

At the same time and without delay, they request the initiation of procedures, in cooperation with the competent authorities of the Republic of Croatia, in order to make the necessary changes to the existing or harmonize the text of the new Agreement on border crossings with the Republic of Croatia, by redefining the status of individual border crossings and securing additional border crossings with all inspection controls, along with the already existing two border crossings.

They are asking for the determination of the composition of the members of the mixed commissions provided for in the agreements on border crossings with other countries, in such a way that those mixed commissions also have a member who represents the business community.

In addition, the Board of the Association exchanged information on the activities that were carried out and are still being carried out in order to ensure the stay of drivers in the territory of the European Union on different bases and conditions, considering that they perform paid professional activity as an important link in the functioning of the chains of delivery of goods, which is why they would have to be exempted from stay restrictions, such as the exemptions for pilots, engine drivers, shippers, etc.
