BIHAĆ, April 19 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, visited the Una-Sana Canton (USC) and the Lipa Temporary Reception Center yesterday and said that the situation is completely under control and that citizens have no reason to worry.
“The safety of the citizens of Bihać is a priority of the Ministry of Security of BiH, but also of all other state institutions that are involved in the migration process. The detention center in Lipa has not even opened yet, and that will only happen following the laws. The process of readmission of migrants signed with the European Union is being implemented and it must be so. We also return migrants who are proven to have come from Serbia or Montenegro, and we successfully implement the signed Agreement with Pakistan. The situation is completely under control and there is no cause for concern,” said Minister Nešić.
Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH, Žarko Laketa, confirmed everything with the official figures.
“Around 1,200 migrants are staying in four temporary reception centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, of which around 400 are currently in Lipa and Borići. There are also regular activities of monitoring their movement, i.e. making it impossible to stay in so-called make-shift camps and abandoned buildings. With the arrival of nicer weather, there will probably be a certain increase in the number of migrants, but these numbers should not even be close to those before,” Laketa pointed out.
Mayor of Bihać, Elvedin Sedić, stated that everything that burdened his fellow citizens in the past twenty days was caused by insufficient communication and misplaced information. The Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton, Mustafa Ružnić, agreed with this but also expressed his satisfaction with the conclusion after the meeting, which primarily refers to the necessity of cooperation and much better communication of all agencies and institutions.
