SARAJEVO, April 3 (FENA) - Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez, together with the Deputy Minister of Defense for Policy and Planning Slaven Galić, today received the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China (PR) to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ji Ping. They discussed bilateral cooperation between the ministries of defense and the armed forces of the two countries but also exchanged views on security and economic aspects important for Europe and the world.

Helez pointed out that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the People's Republic of China are very good and without open issues, and that cooperation should be further developed.

He especially thanked the People's Republic of China for three different donations in 2010, 2015, and 2020 to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and assessed that any such assistance for the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is welcome.

Ambassador Ping noted that the People's Republic of China fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that the principle of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs is the basis of good international relations.

He expressed his gratitude that Bosnia and Herzegovina never sold weapons to Taiwan, which the People's Republic of China considers its sovereign territory.

He was also interested in what other material and technical means would be useful for the Armed Forces of BiH.

Helez stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina's foreign policy priorities include full membership in the European Union and NATO and that efforts are being made to adopt the political and military standards of NATO and the EU.

He concluded that Chinese investments are increasing in both entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and invited Helez and Galić to visit the People's Republic of China.

In particular, he announced an invitation to participate in the international security forum, which should be held in China in October this year, the Ministry of Defense announced.
