SARAJEVO, March 12 (FENA) - The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Robert Golob, will pay an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday. It will be his first official visit abroad, and he will be hosted in Sarajevo by the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto.

As FENA learns from the Office of the Prime Minister of Slovenia, meetings are planned with members of the BiH Presidency as well as members of the collegium of both houses of the BiH PA.

The main topic of the visit will be how to help Bosnia and Herzegovina as much as possible on the European path after the important geostrategic decision of the European Council on granting BiH candidate status.

According to reports, the Slovenian Prime Minister will also discuss bilateral relations and the possibilities of their improvement with the interlocutors. The agenda will also include the situation in the Western Balkans and the impact of the war in Ukraine on this region.

Relations between Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are traditionally friendly. Slovenia actively supports the country in its approach to European integration and successfully lobbied for granting the EU candidate status to BiH. Thus, on December 13, 2022, the General Affairs Council decided on granting the status of a candidate country, which was approved by the European Council at its session on December 15 and 16 last year. The decision is based on a Slovenian initiative.
