SARAJEVO, October 26 (FENA) - Governmental and non-governmental organizations, diplomatic and consular missions and universities from the USA, Italy, Greece, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Germany, Portugal, Romania and Slovenia presented their programs at this year's 12th International Scholarship Fair, organized by the International Cooperation Department of the University of Sarajevo.
“This fair has become a traditional one, where visitors can get more information and establish closer contacts with international organizations and even the business sector when it comes to scholarships for our students. I think that the fair is useful in terms of the internationalization of the University because visibility is strengthened and students get better chances to visit other universities through the exchange,” said the rector of the University of Sarajevo, Rifat Škrijelj.
He emphasized that the number of foreign students visiting the University is not at an enviable level (three percent), and the tendency is for the number of foreign students to be five percent by 2024.
The 12th Scholarship Fair was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton and the Embassy of the Republic of France to BiH, Campus France, and the French Institute.
At the opening of the fair, the Ambassador of France to BiH, Christine Toudic, pointed out that more and more students from Bosnia and Herzegovina are coming to France to study.
“More and more students are showing interest in studying at universities in France, and proof of this is the extremely rich offer of French universities, which we witnessed at this year's Scholarship Fair in Sarajevo. Currently, more than 200 students are studying in France, but we are doing everything to increase that number,” said Ambassador Toudic.
Gianluca Vannini, Head of the Operational Department for Social Development, Civil Society and Cross-Border Cooperation in the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, added that the fair is a wonderful opportunity offered to students in the context of exchange.
“So far, more than 80,000 students and members of the academic staff have participated in the exchange opportunities we offer,” added Vannini.
