SARAJEVO, September 27 (FENA) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović called an emergency session of this House for October 4, where the Report on the harmonization of an identical text with amendments to the Law on Value Added Tax and the Report on the Law on Excise Tax should be discussed.
The request to convene an emergency session was submitted by five delegates Asim Sarajlić, Munib Jusufović and Denis Bećirović from the Bosniak Club, Mladen Bosić from the Serb Club and Zlatko Miletić from the Croat Club.
The Rules of Procedure of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina provide for the obligation of the Speaker of the House to convene an emergency session within three days of submitting the request for its holding.
Given that the current speaker of the House of Peoples, Nikola Špirić, did not call the session, the current deputy speaker of the House, Bakir Izetbegović, took advantage of that opportunity.
By adopting the proposed amendments, the payment of excise tax on fuel would be abolished for a period of six months, which would enable the price of this product to decrease, and a zero rate of VAT would be introduced on basic food items, childcare product, seedlings and planting material, and 22 percent VAT would be introduced on luxury goods.
