MOSTAR, July 10 (FENA) - On Saturday morning, the joy of Eid was marred by threatening graffiti written by unknown persons on a building next to the local mosque.
The acronym "HVO" (Croat Defence Council) were spray-painted on the building of the old religious school, and the letter "U" was written on another building in the immediate vicinity.
The flag of the Islamic community, which is traditionally displayed during all religious holidays, was taken down from the mosque and taken away, the Mufti of Mostar stated yesterday.
The congregation, according to Amer effendi Bećo, is in complete disbelief and discomfort after living through this uncivilized act, which aims to threaten, intimidate and cause ethnic hatred.
About 40 people attended the Eid prayer in Rabrane, almost half of whom are on summer vacation in the only seaside town in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
They reported the incident to the Police Department in Neum, from which they were told that their teams would go to the scene and investigate it.
