SARAJEVO, June 15 (FENA) - At today's extraordinary session, the Council of Ministers of BiH adopted a decision on a temporary ban on the export of certain wood products and firewood.

The proposer of this decision is the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, and the line minister Staša Košarac said that the ban will be in force until the end of September, i.e. the measure covers a total of 90 days.

“This means that there will be a ban on the export of roundwood and pellets and firewood due to the fact that the price of pellets have risen by 155 percent compared to last year. Exports increased for the first five months of this year compared to last year by 78 percent with a tendency to increase further. Also, the price of firewood has increased about 40 percent,” said Košarac.

During a recent visit to a local community, he received information that the price of firewood is close to 130 KM.

“Who can pay that today? If we had not adopted the stated measure today, what would our citizens do? I think that the most responsible attitude here is towards the citizens. It would have happened that this decision had not been made so that individuals who have their own business would participate in foreign trade and provide a profit for themselves, and people would sit in cold houses and apartments. I think that this was an adequate decision of the Council of Ministers of BiH with the full consent of the entire business community in the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH and all competent institutions in that sense,” said Košarac.

Appreciating that wood processors need roundwood, he says that it is completely economically and financially rational for our raw materials to remain in RS and the Federation, and that later they can exploit and produce their business policies.
