BIHAĆ, April 22 (FENA) - Representatives of USAID Tourism and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF Adria) symbolically signed agreements on cooperation and support for the Una National Park today on the Earth Day. A joint plan for the implementation of USAID's Developing Sustainable Tourism Project in BiH was signed with representatives of the Public Enterprise 'Una National Park', as well as an agreement between USAID BiH and WWF Adria on cooperation and support for the youngest national park in BiH.
The signed agreements and cooperation will enable more efficient management, involvement of the local community, and raising awareness of the economic and environmental value of protected areas.
“This is another indicator that we are present here and that in partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) we are helping the development of the Una National Park. In particular, it is an agreement that refers to park management and the involvement of the local community in the whole process,” said USAID Director of Economic Development Karl Wurster.
Director of the 'Una National Park' Amarildo Mulić confirmed the importance of these agreements and projects, considering that this is a basic planning document.
“Based on this, we are making other action plans, both three-year and annual. We are also proud of today's arrival of all distinguished guests, as we mark the Earth Day. This is another in a series of confirmations of the progress, success and recognition of the Una National Park, i.e. our engagement and work,” said director Mulić.
All development projects in the Una National Park are fully supported by the Government of the Federation of BiH and the FBiH Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
“It is no coincidence that we celebrate Earth Day in this way, because we consider this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and especially the Una National Park to be ecological and tourist gems. The Government of the Federation of BiH will support the implementation of all infrastructure projects, as well as the development of the Regulatory Plan of the Una National Park. Our goal is to enable the adequate development of the Una National Park and the Una-Sana Canton, i.e. all the potentials that abound in this area,” said FBiH Minister of Environment and Tourism Edita Đapo.
