SARAJEVO, January 17 (FENA) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković said today that the BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik has been unsuccessfully trying to divert attention from an unprecedented diplomatic scandal and has accused others in accordance with his tried and tested recipe.
"First of all, I expect the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH to start doing his job and stop disrespecting the citizens, especially in a situation where he has embarrassed himself, our citizens, but also the whole of BiH and the Russian Federation. In this country, people clearly recognize when someone is being fraudulent; when they are behaving irresponsibly and trying to produce conflicts among people in order to preserve their own position, which enables him enormous enrichment. At the same time, in the part of BiH where Dodik has almost absolute power, the queues in front of the meal centers are getting longer, pensions are the lowest, investments are almost non-existent, and debts are increasing every day," said Turković.
She emphasized that "at a time when migrants are freezing in our country and their basic human rights are being trampled upon, Dodik, as the holder of the highest office in the country, despite the demands of the European Union, opposes the accommodation of migrants throughout the country, blocking the involvement of the BiH Armed Forces on the state borders but also has made a number of other moves that have led to the escalation of this problem.
"Dodik, with his politics has been continuously blocking the fulfillment of 14 priorities of the European Commission for BiH's membership in the EU, but also the realization of obligations from the Reform Program, which should bring progress to all citizens. Also, in the RS entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where his political party is in power, basic human rights are being violated, and nothing is being done to enforce international and domestic judgments, such as relocating of the church from Fata Orlović's courtyard in Konjević Polje and enabling Bosniak children to study their mother tongue - the Bosnian language.
Turković urges Dodik to deal with the essential problems of the citizens and to accept the jobs for which he was paid or to simply leave room for other representatives from the ranks of the Serb people who are ready to do their job and take care of the Serb people, but also all other peoples and citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"And finally, I want to refer to the affair with the Orthodox relic, with which Dodik belittled our important guest and his country. Instead of trying to confuse and manipulate the whole case, I would like to mention that the Embassy of Ukraine in BiH and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country has asked for the return of the icon, which they claim belongs to the cultural heritage of this country.
For a start, I suggest Dodik, in order to avoid politicization of this case, to act on the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, which had returned the icon, and to involve Interpol or the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, which has already formed the case file in this matter. If there is nothing disputable, as he claims, he should hand over the icon to the investigative and judicial bodies, which will determine the origin of the relic and the way in which the icon arrived in BiH. In the meantime, while the investigation is ongoing, I call on Dodik to working together to solve the problems of our citizens and fulfill all obligations from our strategic documents," said Minister Turković in her reaction.
