SARAJEVO, April 30 (FENA) - Member of the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health and Head of the Department of Epidemiology of the FBiH Public Health Institute, Sanjin Musa, stressed the importance of immunization, above all, in protecting the health of children.
Musa recalled that the last week in April has been marked as an immunization week since 2005, and this year this event has been in the shadow of Covid-19 events.
“In the Federation of BiH, vaccination is carried out against ten infectious diseases and we can see what effects infectious diseases can have, cause complications, hospitalization, so it is important to keep the program in these times of crisis. Immunization is a basic health service that protects vulnerable people, and by providing timely immunization, individuals and communities remain protected as the likelihood of transmission of such diseases is reduced,” Musa added.
Routine immunization, he stressed, also represents a reduction in burdening the health system, especially when the system is facing such a challenge as responding to Covid-19.
“It is very important to continue with the immunization program while adhering to these principles regarding the prevention and control of infection in the healthcare facility,” said Musa.
