SARAJEVO, April 22 (FENA) - The Information Committee of the House of Representatives of the Federation of BiH Parliament, at a regular session held online, considered a letter in the form of appeal with proposals for conclusions sent by the Association of Journalists in Bosnia and Herzegovina to all levels of government in BiH, and unanimously adopted the conclusions and sent it to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to take into consideration when drafting plans and measures to mitigate the economic effects of the crisis, and to include professional media outlets.
The Information Committee of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament expresses its support and gratitude to the media and media workers who report on the coronavirus pandemic in a professional manner, it was concluded at the session.
The Information Committee proposes to the FBiH Government to include professional media outlets and journalists when developing plans and measures to mitigate the economic effects of the crisis in the form of financial support as subsidies, provided that the allocation of these funds is conditional on guarantees that the media outlet do not lay off workers or reduce wages or remunerations.
The Committee proposed that the FBiH Government reduce or release the payment of income tax, contributions as means of financial support and relief to journalists and professional media outlets.
The Information Committee calls on the FBiH Government to plan and launch public calls for media support. The Committee proposes to the FBiH Government to introduce incentive measures for socially responsible companies to invest in the development of professional media, stated the Information Committee of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament.
