Komšić supports BH Journalists Association – Prevent the layoffs of journalists

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 14 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency member Željko Komšić suports an initiative of the Journalists Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina calling on governments at all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina to support journalists and the media in BiH with aid packages and measures to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Komšić points out that journalists, photojournalists, cameramen and technical teams in the field, but also in newsrooms, are at increased risk of getting an infection, in order to convey accurate and verified information to citizens about this extraordinary threat to the health of all citizens, Komšić’s Office stated.

He stresses that efforts should be made to provide protective equipment and disinfectants and, where possible and necessary, to test Covid-19.

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, emphasizes that measures to mitigate the economic effects of the crisis should take into account the jobs of journalists, given the fall in advertising, which threatens the liquidity of both public and commercial media.
