SARAJEVO, April 13 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Staša Košarac organized a video conference today with Ministers of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of RS, Boris Pašalić, and the Federation of BiH, Šemsudin Dedić, and representatives of companies operating in the meat industry.
Košarac expressed support for measures by the entity governments and ministries in charge to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus epidemic on domestic agriculture.
He stressed that he is fully committed to protecting the domestic economy, emphasizing that his policy, as minister of finance, will go precisely in this direction in coordination with all levels of government in BiH.
During the videoconference, problems in the meat industry were discussed, with a focus on surplus production and the possibility of placing them on the market. It was stated that it was necessary to establish clear and continuous communication between meat producers and processors in order to more effectively address the identified problems.
Košarac stressed that he would ask the BiH Veterinary Office, in coordination with the competent authorities in the Federation of BiH and the Brčko District, to speed up the process of abolishing classical swine fever vaccination.
He emphasized that the entity of Republika Srpska has completed its part f the work in this regard. He specified that after the implementation of this measure, it would be possible to continue exporting pork to Macedonia, which would significantly facilitate the business for domestic producers.
It was pointed out that this model of communication would continue, and it was announced that the next meeting would be held in ten days, stated the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
