SARAJEVO, February 5 (FENA) - Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, Vojin Mitrović spoke today in Sarajevo with the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation and EU Special Representative to BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler.
They jointly stressed the need for the continuation of the construction of the motorway network in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, as estimated, would contribute to the development of the economy in BiH, significantly increased transport of goods and services, and connecting with the EU Member States and countries of the region over BiH territory with the seaside and ports.
Ambassador Sattler stressed the need to speed up the construction of the Vc corridor, expressing the expectation that the Svilaj Bridge and border crossing would be opened in April or May this year.
Mitrović also underlined the importance of constructing the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway and connecting it to the Vc corridor.
They discussed the construction of a bridge in Gunja and future EU investments in the revitalization of the Port of Brčko.
The need to improve railway infrastructure in BiH was also one of the topics covered where Minister Mitrović welcomed the fact that the EU supports the process of reconstruction of railways in BiH under the IPA II program, and expressed an expectation that cooperation would continue in the implementation of the General Strategy for Railway Development in BiH.
Ambassador Sattler stressed the importance of completing the process of digitization in BiH.
In this regard, Minister Mitrović said that funds have been secured for the implementation of the second and third phases of the digitization process, and stressed that he believed that the process would be successfully completed,” said the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport.
