SARAJEVO, January 29 (FENA) - Deputies of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly today vote on no confidence to the Sarajevo Canton Government, and at the beginning of the session, SC Prime Minister Edin Forto submitted a report on the work of the SC Government for the 2018-2020 period.

He recalled that citizens of the Sarajevo Canton, by their will, created a political environment to form a different convocation of the Government on December 26, 2018, which based its work on a concrete and ambitious program document called #300measures.

The document was created by six political parties: Our Party (NS), the People and Justice Party (NiP), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Democratic Front (DF), the Alliance for a Better Future (SBB) and the Independent Bosnia and Herzegovina List (NBL) that formed the parliamentary majority in the Sarajevo Canton.

He said they were under media scrutiny and the opposition criticizing the work, and those criticisms were taken seriously.

“Finally, we have established synergy and coordination among ministries and offices to restore citizens’ confidence not only in the Canton, but also in the sense of political action,” Forto said, adding that despite the resistance of those who do not want anything to change, the environment for positive change was created.

Important steps have been taken in the fight against corruption, as well as for transparency, and in this segment the Sarajevo Canton was the first in the region to publish a register of public sector employees with data on salaries and participation in commissions.

The Decree on control of public procurement in institutions was adopted, full independence in the work of the Office for Combating Corruption and Quality Management of SC was ensured, verification of the diplomas of all employees in the SC public sector has been initiated, and it should be completed in the second quarter of 2020, while 6.4 million KM was provided for the work of judicial institutions in SC.

Prime Minister Forto and cantonal ministers expressed their hope that the new, future government would follow the way it was designed to create better living conditions for citizens, and in that sense SC Justice and Administration Minister Lejla Brčić reminded citizens to hold public officials accountable and to criticize because that is the only way to improve the system.

After the Prime Minister and the cantonal ministers spoke, the deputies will vote today on no confidence to the SC Government.
