SARAJEVO, November 20 (FENA) - 'Our Party' (Naša stranka) urges the dismissal of the Steering and Supervisory Board of the Pazarić Institution for the care of mentally disabled children and youth, citing inhumane methods applied to residents, including children, as a reason, but also due to the fact that the Institute does not have sufficient number of professional staff, stated Our Party MP Sabina Ćudić at a press conference held before today's session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament. She said all of this at the session as well and submitted the initiative, in the first place, to end child abuse or modern slavery as she said.

“Due to the negligence of the previous management, the Institution does not have enough professional staff needed to work with residents, including 47 sick children. These children are sedated at night with only one caregiver, which is far from the standards for such institution,” said Ćudić.

Along with Sabina Ćudić's address to the press ahead of the session, a video clip and photos, which she says were made at the Pazarić Institution over the past year, are shown on the display next to her, showing several residents, children, hands tied, with their feet attached to a bed or radiator. In one of the shots, the child's hands are tied behind his back.

She said that the FBiH Government is doing nothing to dismiss individuals from the previous steering and supervisory boards, some of whom are still in office, as she stated.

At a session of the House of Representatives, Ćudić officially submitted an initiative urging the FBiH Government to dismiss members of the former management who are still in office and due to their negligence the abuse of residents or "modern slavery" is happening.

She also requested that the FBiH Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, appoint a medical team to audit the diagnoses and introduce regular medical examinations of the residents.

She also requests that the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, within 90 days of the approval of this initiative in Parliament, submit a report on the measures taken, and that the Prosecutor’s Office speed up its operation in this case.
