Komšić on importance of opening negotiations with Northern Macedonia and Albania

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 17 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić rated in a letter to European officials that the issue of entry of Northern Macedonia and Albania is of extreme importance, and that it has continued in the stabilization and association process that applies exclusively to Southeast European countries a positive message to the whole region, and therefore to BiH.

Komšić addressed the letter to President of the European Council Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, the newly elected President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Commissioner Johannes Hahn.

“Given that the European Commission has already stated that these two countries fulfilled the required criteria for opening negotiations if you deny their request that would send the wrong message to BiH that has work to do and the difficult decisions that are awaiting our country,” said the letter.
