JAHORINA, July 9 (FENA) - Albanian President Ilir Meta on the second day of the Summit of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP), congratulated Kosovo which will take over the chairmanship of SEECP from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“We still have several bilateral challenges in our integration efforts. In this regard, I express my regret that Kosovo was forced not to participate in this summit. How can we pretend that we have a successful cooperation if some of the participants in this process are doing everything so that countries would not benefit from these regional initiatives?” asked Meta.
For this reason, he believes that mutual respect is of key importance for the security and prosperity of the countries of Southest Europe.
“Therefore, it is the right time now for Bosnia and Herzegovina to recognize the reality. Kosovo is an independent and sovereign country and should be treated with respect, especially by its neighbors,” said Meta.
As for the process of European integration, Meta says that Albania is aware that there is still a lot of work to be done to meet the criteria and standards.
He thanked the Regional Council Cooperation (RCC), which supports the promotion of regional cooperation through various projects.
