SARAJEVO, July 1 (FENA) – The police forces of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina marked the Police Day on July 1 in a ceremony in which FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić and FBiH Minister of Interior Aljoša Čampara said that support was needed in equipment, training and increasing the capacity for the police to do their job professionally.

"It places us in a common task of filling in the police structures and their equipment in order to respond adequately to all security challenges," Novalić said.

Čampara emphasized that the FBiH MoI will be pushing in its demands to allow the new police officers to be admitted to the FBiH Police Administration and to support the changes that include the procurement of material and technical resources and more efficient police work.

“We have the opportunity to see the strength and power of the FBiH police structures. Courage is just one of the features of these police officers, and our obligation is to make it easier for them to do everyday activities by improving legal regulations,” said Čampara.

Deputy FBiH Police Director Ensad Korman pointed out that they are currently missing 30 percent of police officers and that amendments to the Rulebook have been made to allow additional 110 policemen to be admitted.

In addition, the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police Officers has been made, defining the way of employment. Also, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has submitted a proposal on the necessary equipment and weapons procurement needed for the smooth operation of FBiH Police Administration.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of executive and legislative authorities, including the chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Bakir Izetbegović.
