SARAJEVO, June 7 (FENA) - Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to BiH, Matthews Field today hosted a reception attended by a large number of guests and officials at the British embassy residence, on the occasion of the 93rd birthday of one of the world's most renowned nobilities, Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II is the most prolific ruler in British history. She was born in 1926, and she has been on the throne since 1952. She became Queen when she was 25 years old. The six-decade long reign of Queen Victoria, which ruled from 1837 and 1901, has been surpassed in 2015.

The Ambassador noted that the Queen has testified to the birth of modern times on the British throne since 1952. Theresa May is the 13th prime minister, and Donald Trump is the 11th president of the United States in her 67-year-long reign.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom.

“In those 25 years of friendship and partnership, little would have been achieved if there was no tireless work and creativity of our BiH staff at the embassy and the British Council. Many of them, former and current, are here today with us,” said Field.

He expressed them gratitude for their work and presented a special certificate of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain Jeremy Hunt to Senad Žoljić, who has been an employee of the Embassy since its opening.

In his address to the guests at the reception, Field said that he believes in citizens of BiH, and what citizens are doing to have a better, fairer and more open country is what inspires him, and said that citizens' priorities are the rule of law and the fight against corruption, as well as the creation of new jobs.

"These are their priorities and they are the priorities of the United Kingdom," Field concluded, declaring that leaving the European Union would not prevent his country from maintaining a close friend and partner of BiH.

The reception was attended by representatives of political and cultural life in BiH, diplomatic corps and numerous international and non-governmental organizations’ representatives.
