PARIS/SARAJEVO, November 11 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović, at the invitation of the French President Emmanuel Macron, participated in the ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the 1918 armistice and the end of the First World War.
Chairman Izetbegović attended the central ceremony at Arc de Triomphe in the company of other heads of states and governments.
Expressing hope that the messages of peace and communion sent from Paris will be the guiding idea for everyone, Izetbegović stressed that everyone lost in the wars all wars, especially people in the Balkans, which was plagued by the war on three occasions in the 20th century, marking the beginning and the end of the century. That is why more wisdom is needed and readiness to build peace and, after a century of wars, to try to achieve a century of peace.
Izetbegović stressed that because of its painful historical experience, Bosnia and Herzegovina needs a unified Europe, a Europe of peace, prosperity, and cooperation and that it deserves its place in that family of freedom and democracy.
Similarly, the European Union needs Bosnia and Herzegovina as a symbol and a unique microcosm, which for centuries has nourished the motto of modern Europe, unity in diversity.
Izetbegović will also take part in the Paris Peace Forum, which will be addressed by French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Prior to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the armistice of 1918, and the end of the First World War, Izetbegović attended the dinner that was hosted by the President of the Republic of France last evening for world leaders.
The BiH Presidency Chairman Izetbegović led the delegation of BiH comprised of Ambassador to the Republic of France Kemal Muftić and Advisor to Dragan Čović, the Croat Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ivana Zovko - Planinić, stated the BiH Presidency.
