SARAJEVO, August 13 (FENA) - The co-production agreement in cinematography between France and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first one after 1974, was signed today in Sarajevo by the BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Adil Osmanović and French Ambassador to BiH, Guillaume Rousson.

Minister Osmanović said that cooperation between the two countries in the field of cinematography has been dynamic and has a long tradition and that the French system of support to cinematography stands out as an example for many other countries.

“Our common intent is that this agreement becomes basis for further expansion of cooperation in the field of cinematography in the coming period,” said Osmanović.

He explained that France is one of the countries with which Bosnia and Herzegovina co-produced the biggest number of films. He pointed out that in 2018, two French films were filmed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a minor co-production with domestic producers.

French Ambassador to BiH Guillaume Rousson said that we have waited for the signing of such an agreement since 2014, when the ministries of both countries decided to renew the 1974 co-production agreement between France and the then Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia.

He explained that the films made in this co-production would be considered state-funded films in both France and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that they would have access to the same form assistance as the state-funded films.

Rousson added that technical and art production staff could come from European Union countries, which was not the case before, and that the rules on minimum participation in co-production will be alleviated.

“In the previous agreement, the share of the minimum co-production was 30 percent, and according to the new one it will be reduced to 10 percent,” explained Ambassador Rousson and emphasized that these are only some of the benefits of the signed agreement.

He said that the agreement not only opens the door to better cooperation between film professionals of the two countries, but also it contributes to the strengthening of cultural ties and cooperation.

Ambassador Rousson concluded that France has always been very present in the cultural arena of Bosnia and Herzegovina and has participated in many events such as the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Jazz Fest, Theater Festival MESS and the Sarajevo Winter Festival.
