SARAJEVO, March 2 (FENA) - BiH Presidency members Bakir Izetbegović and Mladen Ivanić received today Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif.
At the beginning of the meeting, the BiH Presidency members welcomed the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by Minister Zarif.
The BiH Presidency members informed Mr. Zarif about the current situation in BiH and highlighted BiH's commitment to the European path, as well as the continuation of the initiated reforms and the fulfillment of the necessary conditions in order for the country to become a candidate for EU membership.
They jointly concluded that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Islamic Republic of Iran were good and friendly, without open issues. The cooperation between the two countries is at a satisfactory level, but there is room for its improvement, they said.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has an extraordinary geographic position enabling the Iranian economy and investors to access the European market, which is a prerequisite for establishing companies and branches of Iranian enterprises. Mr. Zarif expressed hope and willingness to abolish the visa regime between the two countries, which would affect the development of the economy, economic and cultural relations, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, wood industry, energy and construction.
The meeting was on behalf of the BiH Presidency Chairman, Dragan Čović, attended by Advisor Dejan Vanjek, the BiH Presidency said.
