SARAJEVO, January 25 (FENA) - The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as of today has a new Law on Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO).
The law was approved by a majority vote today at the extraordinary session of the FBiH Parliament House of Peoples after it was approved yesterday at the House of Representatives' session.
The House of Peoples has obliged the Proponent, the FBiH Government, to propose solutions for the possible perceived shortcomings of that law during the next six months of monitoring.
The Government's next proposal by the House of Peoples, proposed by the Croat people's caucus, has tasked the Government to consider the possibility of increasing minimum pensions because the beneficiaries are socially vulnerable categories of population.
The new PIO law has been in the parliamentary procedure several times. It introduces a new point-based system for calculating the amount of the pension, based on the years of employment of insured persons and paid contributions.
