Smuggling groups lead irregular migration in BiH as solo border crossings decline

SARAJEVO, January 18 (FENA) – Although the overall number of irregular migration movements along the Western Balkan route is declining, migrant smuggling is becoming increasingly intensive, sophisticated, and dangerous, with ever more pronounced humanitarian consequences. A growing concern is the increasing number of Chinese nationals seeking to reach the European Union via these routes, with Bosnia and Herzegovina at the center of the regional transit network.
