SARAJEVO, August 7 (FENA) – The European Commission has approved €393,732.27 for institutions and organizations from the health sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in five joint actions funded through the EU4Health Program budget for 2024.
These projects will focus on infection-related cancers, vaccine-preventable cancers, response to infectious diseases (HIV, AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis), personalized medicine for cancer patients, and pediatric palliative care. They will also promote a comprehensive, prevention-oriented approach to mental health, as well as health promotion and disease prevention, including smoke-free and aerosol-free environments.
The start of project activities under the 2024 joint actions is expected in the third quarter of 2025, with each project having an implementation period of 36 months. Joint actions are a funding instrument within the EU4Health Program 2021–2027, providing clear added value to the European Union (EU) and contributing to addressing key health policy priorities at the European level.
These are direct grants awarded from the EU4Health Program budget and are implemented by consortia of institutions responsible for health in EU Member States, countries associated with the Program, and other partner countries. Each joint action consortium consists of beneficiaries – competent authorities, affiliated entities, and associated partners.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the FBiH Ministry of Health, the Public Health Institute of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Public Health Institute of Republika Srpska, the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, the University Clinical Center of RS, the University Clinical Hospital Mostar, the Banja Luka Health Center, and other interested entities will participate in these projects, announced the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
