SARAJEVO, May 8 (FENA) - Deputy General Manager of the Federal News Agency (FENA) Ilija Musa presented the conclusions of the second Media Innovation & Trends conference, which FENA organized today in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

''The main topic of the conference was "Responsibility of the Media in Electoral Process", which was discussed by media professionals, election and media experts, information technology experts from BiH and abroad, and representatives of regulatory bodies and non-governmental organizations. Discussing this topic, they opened up further space for dialogue and discussion about the role of modern technology in the production of media content, the dangers of manipulating modern technology in the creation of media content and the potential impact of such content on public opinion and social processes in general,'' said Musa.

Conclusions were created based on what was clearly highlighted during the presentation and discussion in both panels.

''Primarily, it was concluded that editorial freedom and independence, transparency of media operations and responsibility towards the public are the path to the development of fundamental democratic values in society, as well as in the work of public media. Therefore, journalists and media outlets must adhere to the highest professional standardseven in reporting on election activities,'' stated Musa.

For the independent work of the media, as it was concluded, it is necessary to arrange a (media) legal framework that will enable the transparent operation of media houses, and a system of support for the diversity and pluralism of media content.

Media experts also concluded today that "the use of modern technology in media reporting with the aim of creating infographics, animations and more complex multimedia content is desirable in conditions of adherence to the basic postulates of the journalistic profession", while "all forms of manipulation of modern technology with the aim of misleading the public carry responsibilities that should be appropriately prescribed".

''The role of news agencies as the most important source of media content is crucial in the fight against media manipulation and misinformation. With the organization of the second Media Innovation and Trends conference, the social responsibility of the Federal News Agency becomes even clearer, and its position as a media leader in Bosnia and Herzegovina even more obvious,'' said Musa.
