SARAJEVO, February 12 (FENA) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, said today at the conference "Members of Parliaments and Religious Leaders for Peace and Coexistence" that peace is a moral imperative and the most basic human need, and that preventive measures are crucial together with timely action to avoid conflicts and preserve world peace.

He emphasized that the conference will discuss the various challenges we have to face, achieving lasting peace and stability, coexistence among people of different religions and nations, and respect for the other and the different.

"This conference is extremely important, due to the fact that it is being held in Sarajevo, a city that we call the Jerusalem of Europe, a city where for five centuries places of worship of different monotheistic religions have stood next to each other, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country from which messages of peace and of cooperation," said Zvizdić.

The Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, said that he is particularly happy that the conference is being held in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, which is an example of diversity and real civilizational and human values.

He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a meeting place between East and West, which is why it is a source of inspiration for multicultural, civilizational and every other diversity.

Al-Issa pointed out that today we are all in dire need of such conferences because it is crucial that we put tolerance, coexistence and peace in the foreground.
