SARAJEVO, July 26 (FENA) - The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Turkey and attendance at the 16th International Military Industry Fair "IDEF 2023", today met with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Turkey Yašar Güler, whom he informed about the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and about the situation and activities of the MoD and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At the meeting,the two sides underlined extremely good cooperation between the Republic of Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a number of concrete projects and modalities of assistance from the Republic of Turkey to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina were agreed upon.
The agreed forms of assistance, support and cooperation relate to the field of education of cadets and members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina at military schools in the Republic of Turkey, with special emphasis on the training of helicopter pilots and flight instructors for the needs of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as other types of support and assistance.
The concrete operationalization of the agreed forms of assistance will begin already in the next month when expert teams from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey will meet and determine the dynamics and further steps.
The assistance and support provided by the Turkish Armed Forces to the BiH Armed Forces will provide numerous benefits, especially to the armored-mechanized and aviation units of the BiH Armed Forces.
"The Republic of Turkey is a proven friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and will continue to be so in the future, for which we received firm guarantees from our colleague Minister Güler, and the Ministry of Defense of Turkey will continue to provide support to our country, our armed forces and our Euro-Atlantic path, which we are on extremely grateful," said Minister Helez.
Helez also informed the Turkish minister about the NATO support package for strengthening the defense and security capacities of our country and said that the funds from that package have started to be implemented for agreed and approved projects for the MoD and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Güler said that the Republic of Turkey, as a member of NATO, will consider the most effective way to participate in the implementation of the aid package for the construction of DCBI capacities for the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, agreed at the NATO Summit in Madrid last year, and the value of which is around 50 million euros.
Minister Helez sent an official invitation to Minister Güler to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, to which the host returned an invitation to Minister Helez and invited him to attend one of the largest exercises of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey "EFES 2024" which will be held next year, as a special guest, stated the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
