SARAJEVO, July 6 (FENA) - Transparency International in BiH (TIBiH) organized today in Sarajevo the conference 'Improving the integrity of elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina', where the president of the Central Election Commission of BiH Suad Arnautović and member Željko Bakalar participated as panelists.
Several members of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, representatives of other relevant institutions in BiH, the international community, civil society organizations and the media attended the conference.
Arnautović, in his opening presentation at the "Reform of Electoral Legislation" panel, emphasized the necessity of electoral reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina in several segments of the electoral process.
He spoke about the need to establish a different system of appointing election committees, including consideration of the criteria for selecting members and avoiding political influence, the advantages and risks of digitizing the electoral process and potential solutions, measures that can be taken to prevent observed deviations at different stages of the electoral process, and on transparency and public trust in the electoral process.
CEC BiH member Željko Bakalar participated in the panel "(Mis)use of public funds in the pre-election period" and spoke about the past experiences of the Central Election Commission of BiH, as well as judicial practice, announced the CEC BiH.
