A joint exhibition on Isak Samokovlija a kind of cultural bridge between BiH and Bulgaria

FENA Fedzad Forto

SARAJEVO, June 1 (FENA) - A formal reception was held for the diplomatic and cultural delegation of the Republic of Bulgaria last night at the BiH Museum of Literature and Performing Arts in Sarajevo under the auspices of the BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković, on the occasion of strengthening cultural cooperation between the two countries, as part of which on Thursday, 1 June, the exhibition will be opened titled "Isaak the Samokovlija: Greetings from Samokovo and Čamkuri", by Đana Kukić and Lyubomir Nikolov.

Deputy Ambassador of Bulgaria in Bosnia and Herzegovina Nikola Nikolov told FENA that he was extremely pleased that the exhibition about the life and work of Isak Samokovlija was organized in cooperation with the Museum of Literature and Performing Arts of BiH and the History Museum of the City of Samokov.

As he explained, the collaboration on setting up the exhibition about Isak Samokovlija was born from the idea that he proposed to the director of the Museum, Šejla Šehabović, which she accepted, and preparations began.

The delegation of the Museum of Literature and Performing Arts visited cultural institutions in Bulgaria, where a successful cooperation was established, as part of which a joint exhibition will be opened on 1 June, and Nikolov is happy that this exhibition has built a kind of cultural bridge between Bulgaria and BiH, which will be expanded in the future.

The museum advisor and the author of the exhibition on Isak Samokovlija Đana Kukić told FENA that the exhibition visited the Bulgarian town of Samokov on April 24 this year.

"The project itself was initiated by our friends from the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, who last year had an exhibition of the works of their best painters. They were delighted with the museum itself and the fact that Isak Samokovlija's ancestors came from Samokov in Bulgaria. The decision was made to prepare the project in a dignified manner in order to present BiH and its rich cultural and historical heritage," said Kukić.

Kukić emphasized that Isak Samokovlija's collection is one of the most significant in the collection of the Museum of Literature and Performing Arts and was among the first to be acquired after the museum was founded in 1961.
