ZENICA, May 26 (FENA) - Miners of the Subsidiary Company of the Zenica Coal Mines Zenica, who refused to go down to the pits yesterday in the second shift, did not resume production even this morning in the first shift, confirmed Union President Elvedin Avdić for FENA.
Yesterday, after a four-day warning strike at the beginning of the first shift, the union canceled the general strike, due to the inability to fulfill all the legal requirements for the realization of a general strike. The miners, however, were not satisfied with such a solution and, despite this, refused to go down to the pits.
The miners ultimately demand the payment of their April salary and compensation for a meal allowance, as well as from the company stopped and unpaid loan installments to the banks, which deducted the installments from their accounts. Until the conditions are met, they announced that they would not work.
The miners were also not satisfied with yesterday's explanation from director Mensur Hukić, who told them that, as of May 23, the company's account was blocked due to 4,673,358.81 KM of blockages from suppliers and 35 former and current workers who sued the company for unpaid obligations for pension and disability insurance.
Hukić said that, even if there were no blockades mentioned, due to insufficient production, they do not have enough money to pay the April salary, which should have been paid by yesterday, May 25 at the latest, that is, they lack 1,401,000 KM.
