SARAJEVO, May 22 (FENA) - The FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić met in Sarajevo with the resident representative of UNDP in BiH, Steliana Nedera, with whom he discussed the priorities and strategic decisions of the line ministry, as well as future cooperation with UNDP.
Minister Lakić said that decarbonization and energy transition are strategic commitments of the ministry and the FBiH Government, which primarily implies reform and innovation of the existing normative framework and the development of a long-term energy strategy for the period 2024-2035.
He particularly emphasized the importance of a fair transition when it comes to the field of mining while respecting the social conditions of local communities during the transition and adaptation to the new energy policy.
Lakić assessed the industrial sector as equally important, stressing the necessity of a tighter connection between research and scientific institutions and financial institutions with relevant federal ministries in order to improve economic development in our country.
In this context, the minister emphasized the assistance and cooperation with UNDP, which he assessed as extremely important.
The UNDP representative Steliana Nedera congratulated Minister Lakić on his appointment and emphasized that it is time to mobilize more resources for the implementation of reforms from the Action Plan for the Green Agenda.
Also, she informed the minister about the UNDP roadmap when it comes to Sustainable Development Goals for BiH in the priority areas of energy, infrastructure and digitalization.
In this direction, said Nedera, UNDP with its experience, expertise and multilateral financial arrangements with international development banks will be available to the ministry and the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
