SARAJEVO, May 21 (FENA) – The 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, also known as 'The Great Catastrophe', to remember the suffering and persecution of the Palestinian people, was marked today with a gathering in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral.
Although this day is marked on May 15, associations that provide support to the Palestinian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina reminded today in Sarajevo of the persecution of nearly 800,000 Palestinians.
President of the Bosnian-Palestinian Friendship Association, Avdo Hebib, told FENA that they are trying to support the Palestinians in this way.
"We understand them best and we know best what it means to feel terrorism on your skin," said Hebib.
He expressed dissatisfaction that the international community did not give this event the importance it deserves and did not stand up for human rights.
"But these days, the United Nations marked the Nakba day for the first time in its history. It looks like they are starting to wake up," Hebib said.
The Palestinian-Israeli conflict dates back to 1917, when the British government called for the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine.
