SARAJEVO, May 18 (FENA) - Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Tegeltija, was appointed as director of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH (ITA BiH) today at the session of the Council of Ministers.

Tegeltija told reporters that today the BiH Council of Ministers completed the competition procedure, which, based on the decision of the BiH Council of Ministers, was carried out by the Management Board of the Indirect Taxation Authority.

He added that he, as the president of the Management Board, did not participate in that procedure, because he himself applied for the position of director of the Management Board.

"I haven't seen the decision yet, but according to the information I have, it is defined that today I will be appointed to the position of director of the Indirect Taxation Authority, that the decision will be published in the Official Gazette, and that I will take over the position of director on June 15," said Tegeltija.

He added that this is enough time for the current director to complete his procedures, which are necessary in the Indirect Taxation Authority, as well as for him as the Minister of Finance.

He pointed out that he is an opponent of ad hoc changes to the Law on Value Added Tax (VAT).

According to him, some initiatives and various proposals for amending the VAT Act are constantly coming.

He noted that the law on the VAT system is a systemic law and it must be harmonized and as such be referred to the procedure.

He added that, since the law was adopted, there have been no key changes, "with the aim of avoiding the story of VAT rates only, because that is not the key and most important thing in the system of the VAT Law".

When asked by a journalist if he knew who would replace him as Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he said that tomorrow is the meeting of the Executive Committee of the SNSD, and that he thinks that at that meeting potential candidates for the future Minister of Finance will be proposed.
