SARAJEVO, May 17 (FENA) - Based on the progress in the field of good governance and environmental protection, achieved within the framework of the Municipal Environmental and Economic Governance (MEG) project during the past 12 months, eight local self-government units obtained the right to financial support for the implementation of their infrastructure projects from the field of environment, in the total amount of 950,000 USD.
Prnjavor, Žepče and Prijedor achieved the right to use grants of the partner local self-government units that participated in the first phase of the MEG project. Apart from them, Ilijaš, Laktaši, Šamac, Trebinje and Orašje achieved the right to use grants as partner LGUs that joined the MEG project in the second phase.
Through their work and commitment, those eight local governments have earned the right to grant non-reimbursable financial resources, which can be used for the implementation of priority infrastructure projects in the area of the environment, defined in their development strategies.
"The second phase of the Municipal Environmental and Economic Governance project is currently being implemented in 31 local self-government units, and the project is jointly financed by the Government of Switzerland, Sweden and the Government of the Czech Republic, as well as the European Union, while it is implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina," announced the UNDP.
