BOSANSKI NOVI/SARAJEVO, May 17 (FENA) - The current situation in Bosanski Novi, as far as the rural part of the Jadra valley is concerned, is that the water level is decreasing. The Sana River is also in a slight decline, however, the Una River from the direction of Bosanska Otoka and Bosanska Krupa, from the Una-Sana canton, is bringing in a flood wave.

"Approximately 50 centimeters remains for the water to cross the openings in the quay, which was built fifty years ago and which is the best protection in the city itself, and without which the city would already be underwater," a returnee to Bosanski Novi, president of the SDAmunicipal committee, Senad Bratić told FENA.

According to him, the pumps are working, municipal officials and the director of Civil Protection Service of the RS were on the ground, and firefighters and everyone else are on the ground.

"The situation is alarming. We expect that this tidal wave from the direction of Bosanska Otoka will not rise that half a meter and endanger the situation in the city. However, there are a lot of flooded buildings in the area of the entire municipality, both in returnee settlements and in others," said Bratić.

As he says, only when the water recedes, the commission will be able to determine the damages.

Now the immediate priority is to help people who have been cut off, to provide them with the most basic necessities.
